As you will be aware due to the disruption in the last academic year and the partial closure of schools, all 2019-20 national tests were cancelled for primary schools. This meant that children who were in Y1 last year didn’t sit the Y1 Phonics Screening Check. Our intention will be to administer the screen to these children – now in Y2 – before we break for the Christmas holidays.

The children have been working hard during phonics sessions and have had daily lessons focussed on the development of their use of Phonics in Reading and Writing.
