Developments in Early Years


Over the summer holiday, Sunflower Class (Reception) has had some improvements. We have decorated the classroom and added some lovely new resources. We have extended the muddy kitchen and have lots of new wellies and overalls ready for lots of wet and muddy play!

In this unusual time, we are encouraging families to register their child for Imagination Library, if you haven't already.

You can do this by signing up electronically via the council website for the foreseeable future.

Online Safety At Home - Activities To Do At Home With Your Child

As school is closed and alot of our children will be accessing different activities and resources online, it is important to make sure you all stay safe whilst online. 

Think U Know allows you to access some simple 15 minute activities for parents and carers to do at home with your child.

Applying for Pupil Premium

The pupil premium is additional funding given to publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers. It is allocated to children from low-income families who are currently known to be eligible for Free School Meals (FSM), Looked after Children, children adopted from care and Service Forces children. It also includes pupils who have been eligible for FSM at any point in the last six years (known as the Ever 6 FSM measure). More information is available HERE.

We ask that you help us to help your child by ensuring that you have checked to see if you are eligible. Your child may be eligible if you are in receipt of any of the following:

  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • the guaranteed element of Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
  • Universal Credit - if you apply on or after 1 April 2018 your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get)

 

If your child does receive Pupil Premium funding they will be entitled to a free school sweatshirt or cardigan and a P.E Kit. Throughout their time with us they will also have additional support with trips and much more.
