Two-Cycle Curriculum
The staff at Enderby Road Infant and Nursery school have designed the curriculum to embrace and support the cultural context and needs of our school community. We have a bespoke curriculum which has been designed on a two-year rolling programme. This comprises of cycle 1 and 2. By the time the children have finished Y2 at our school, they will have enjoyed a variety of topics, developed new life experiences and learnt 'sticky knowledge' to support them into KS2.
This year we are on Cycle 2
Cycle 1
This cycle of topics ranges from Great British history facts to all things farming to travelling over land and sea. The larger topics will be split up with smaller ones filled with exciting activities to track the children's journey through the year. Real life experiences will shape their understanding and lead them to questions further and deeper to help their knowledge 'stick'.
Cycle 2
Through the cycle of these topics the children will explore travelling through the air in 'Up, up and away' as well as understanding where Scunthorpe is in the world. They will also go into the woods to find out more about the natural world and explore all that it has to offer. As with cycle 1, the larger topics are supported through the year's events to mirror the children's development as they grow.
