At Enderby Road Infant and Nursery School, we intend to offer the children many opportunities to express themselves artistically and learn new skills to enable them to reach and exceed their potential. It is our intention that the curriculum offer for art gives all children the confidence and courage to explore a variety of media with enthusiasm and creativity.

From the end of EYFS through to Y2, the children will explore the National Curriculum objectives in a cross curricular topic-based approach, with all areas of art from drawing and painting through to printing, collage and sculpture being covered. It is also our intention to provide children with ‘Wow!’ artistic experiences which will include focused art weeks, art workshops and opportunities for celebrating their work through their own galleries in school.

Through art lessons at Enderby Road, the children experience a variety of media and learn related skills. They can develop and exlpore their creativity whilst learning from the work and models of successful artists. The opportunity of an art 'wow' week in each curriculum cycle enables them to solely focus on developing their art skills and emerses their thinking on a specific area of art. They also have the experience of celebrating their art and that of their peers through a school 'art gallery'. All of these opportunities help the children to appreicate the improtance of art within their learning journey and the wonder and enjoyment that comes with it.
